Mrs Donovan was the last women in Clogagh to wear a mantle. It was the young girls used wear the mantles. The mantles were of different colours:- blue and grey, there were hoods in some of them which they could pull up over their heads. Mrs Bennett's father's grandmother was married in a blue mantle.
The old woman who was staying with me grandfather used wear a red flannel petticoat, a very wide skirt and a small white cap, she used the cap with a tally iron
