  1. They used have brown bread it was very seldom they used have currant cake only at Christmas. They wouldn't like any currant cake only brown bread. When they would be baking the cakes they would bake them in a bastable with wet furze and bake them hard as iron. When they would take the cake out of the bastable they would cut it in slices to see would they have enough of soda in it
