  1. About one hundred years ago the children going to school used not wear any shoes until they were twelve years. They used take off their shoes until they reached as far as the Church and then put them on before they would go in to Mass. But in the frost weather they used not put any shoe on them but got straw and made a sugán rope of it then they used wind it around their leg up as far as their knees.
