  1. About fifty yeas ago, poor women used go around this parish cutting potatoes. They used live in workmen's houses, and used earn their living by cutting potatoes in the Spring, and by washing and other work during the year. There used be two of them work together as a rule, and they would go to a house at about 11 o' clock and cut two panniers of potatoes each, and they would get about 1.S. for that.
