Some people in this parish think that if eggs were put hatching on the first day of May, the chickens would be all pullits, and if the hatching hen was put facing the rising sun all the chickens would be very healthy and live and if the hen would break an egg in the nest all the rest of the eggs would be good.
    It is also thought unlucky to sell clocking hens.
