  1. Ship Wreck
    About sixty years ago a steamer by the name of the Preston City was wrecked on the dualig rocks about two miles out from the Galley Head. She was laden with cotton and specie (uncoined gold) The vessel became a total wreck and years after the gold was salved by divers and a lot of it recovered. The cotton was also found and it was sent over to England to the owners. There was no light-house there at that time but it was erected the following year.
