  1. Amhrán

Is a tuirseach geár mo scéal faraoir!

    1
Is a tuirseach géar mo scéal faraoir!
Gan fhios d'en tsaoghal le tréimhse am' shnaoi
Do dhearg mo ghné, is níl spéir am' ghnaoi
Le taithneam don bhé pé'n Éirinn í
A doleful tale Ill relate to thee
Unknown to fate I rave and grieve
Love hath decayed my face and mien
For my curious dame who'e'er she be.
    2
Tapa mo ghéaga is léir gur claoidheag
Is maise mo scéimhe claochlaidh thríd
Gach galar is péin d'ár saoghadar tríom
Ó dhearcas an bhé pén Éirinn í
My limbs growing weak I daily feel
and withered face increased my grief.
Im wrecked with pains by means of seeing
This curious dame who'e'er she be
    3
Le barra mo mhéar ní léir dom scrí
Is am theanga mo léan níl béarla cruinn
Ní gasta mo théxt i nGaoluinn chaoin
Le'n a mholfainn mo bhéith pén Éirinn í
