    Lá da rabas-sa in gleann am aonar
    Ag fiadhach go tréun 's mo coin lem thaoibh
    I espied a damsel with handsome features
    And she dressed most neatly in her mantle green

    Bhí scáil 'na leacain ar dath an róisí
    'S ba bhinne a ghór ná na ceólta sidhe
    Her love and friendship piereced through my nature,
    And I wished her daily to live with me.

    Do ritheas na coinnibh lem' chlaidheamh am dhóid dheas,
    'S d'fhiosras do'n óig-bhean teacht liom mar mnaoi,
    She answered slowly "Kind sir dont tease me,
    For I'm intoxicated by Luther's breed."

    D'fiosruigheas a h-ainm chart de'n aingil mhaorda,
    Go ciúin tais béusach le mórtaisí,
    Or was she Hélen that handsome female,
    When dressed most neatly surpassed all queens
