  1. The following old prayer used to be said every night by a farmer in this neighbourhood over sixty years ago
"And now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my should to take
To live with Him for Jesus' sake".
On seeing the new moon for the first time, the following was used by some people
"May the lord give us all the Light of Heaven".
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
