  1. Nowadays the fairs are held in towns and villages. In times of war the fairs were held in fields. The field was called "Paírc an Aoinaig"
    In Skibbereen the fairs are held in a Fair-field. In Bantry the fair is held in the Square and in Drimoleague the fair is held in the street. The "Big Fair" was held on Drimoleague Rock.
    Custom is paid on cattle and pigs. A different amount of custom is paid in each town. "Luck" is always given with animals. "Luck" is given according to the animal sold.
    When a bargain is made the buyer and seller show their agreement by given each other a slap on the hand.
