- A circle around the moon is a sign of rain. Sea-gulls coming inland are a sign of an approaching storm. A copper coloured sky in the east during a sunset also signals the approaching of rain; while a glowing red sunset is a sign that that following day will be fine. Fishermen hold, that hear the sea distinctly when breaking against the rocks is the sign of approaching bad weather. Other people say that mackerel sky is a sign of rain; while they also hold that if the clouds look like goats' hairs it is a sign of wind.
