  1. The fairs of this neighbourhood are held in Ballydehob. They are not held in any other place but in towns. Often the buyers go out to to the country before the fairs buying animals from the farmers. There are two fairs in the month one for the pigs, and bonives, and the other for the cows and calves, and heifers, and sheep. There are no old stories connected with fairs having been held near fors, and castles. The fairs are held in the streets. There is not any toll paid in Ballydehob now, but it used to be paid long ago. Long ago sixpence used to be paid for a car of pigs, and
