  1. Long ago there were many poets in this district. One was Michael Hegarty of Dunmanus. He made many songs. One song he made was in Praise of Michael Kelleher in Glaun called "the Sporting boy from Glaun". In the song he gives Mr Kelleher the name "Shaune". The word "Phascho" mentioned in the Poem was a dog was a dog which Dr. Mc Cormick in Goleen gave to Mr Kelleher to train.

    Its just sixty years since Shaune was young.
    And well known in Sweet Schull town
    A Favourite with his dog and gun,
    This sporting lad from Glaun.
    This land renowned for dancing,
    That fine old Irish game.
    Dan the Yank and Clancy,
    And Théad from Tuirín Sháne.

    In frost and snow; it was only play,
    When Shaune was in his prime.
    For Shooting cock, he climbed his way
