  1. Down to twenty years ago every farmer churned his own butter. The butter was churned two days before the market day in summer, and one day in winter.
    The local market town is Ballydehob. Formerly when farmers churned their own butter the market day was a very busy day; ballad singers and tinkers and pedlars used attend races and fairs.
