  2. Long ago the people wouldn't fatten pigs but mostly once a year towards October.
    Then the potato crop would be ripe and the people digging them out would give the waste ones and the black ones to the pigs, they wouldn't waste the good ones with them at all, because at that time there was poor price for pigs.
    When the pigs were young and growing they used be fed on rape and cashervawn and nettles chopped up small, and by the seaside people used give them sea weed. So pigs used not get meal in those days, because the poor people used be very glad to have it themselves to eat.
