    cotton thread woven together and a big knot was made at the bottom of them. The thread was put up through the hole and tied to a nail at the top which kept it firm. The melted fat was poured into the shape and allowed to get hard. This was called tallow. When the tallow got hard it was of a yellowish colour. The shape was then put into lukewarm water to soften out the candle.
