  1. The local fairs are held in Bantry and Ballydehob. Bantry pig fair is held on the first Thursday of every. month, and the cattle fair is held on the first Friday of every month. Ballydehob pig fair is held on the third Wednesday of every month, and the cattle fair is held on the third Thursday of every month.
    Sheep and horses are also transacted in Bantry cattle fair. When a bargain is made the buyer spits on his right hand and then he strikes the seller's right hand with it. This confirms the bargain. Very often when the difference between the price the buyer would give for an animal and the price the seller wants is not very much they
