    Dannie Daly is an old man and he has a long grey whisker. He goes about playing a fiddle. When I was very young he came to our house for lodging, and he told my mother that he was in a house one night, and at twelve o'clock he saw a man who had been dead nine years writing on the ceiling. He also said that he has no expectations of going to heaven, since he is not making any effort for it. I was frightened when I heard him talking that way, and I stayed lying near the table all night. Daly is said to be insane. He is a native of Dunmanus, but his sister whom he lived with put him out of the house.
    Frank Minihane goes around looking for work, but he does not remain long anywhere. One evening in the month of August some years ago he came to our house. We were cutting the corn and he said he would help. We gave him his supper and made a bed on the
