At about one o'clock the man arose and he smelled burning. He ran downstairs and Tom had about four bags of turf around the fire There was oil descending from the clevey and it was on fire Tom had his shoes off heating his toes to the fire. The man told him to clear out of the house but Tom took his shoe and with the intention of flinging it at the man drove it through the glass cupboard breaking the glass and the ware inside. The man threw the shoe out in the yard and Tom went out swearing and cursing and saying his "socking" was all wet
