That I am going to face my God on a shameful gallow tree.A sad and dreary month has passed since I was guilty found,
For the murder of W. S. Birde that day in Bantry town,
On the eleventh day of January I am summoned to appear,
Before the judgement seat of God my sentence there to hear.
It was cruel and wicked evidence that swore my life away,
I never thought it would be my lot to die in Cork County jail,
