    Some years ago around this district there were two men who used to frighten people as they used be coming to, or going from, houses at night time.
    There were three big trees growing on the side of the road by Cove at that time.
    The men used to put a blanket across the top of each tree, and then light a candle on the blanket so that when the people would be passing by, they would frighten them.
    The men used to stay up among the branches and make queer noises too.
    They succeeded in frightening a lot of people.
    One night a man was going along the road, and the two men made all sorts of noises. The man did not say one word only turned back, and went home.
    Next evening about 6 o' clock the man dressed himself in white and went up on the tree.
    The two men, as usual, came soon afterwards up on the tree so as to be ready to frighten anyone passing, and when
