- 318 (written by a standard V pupil.)The Seven Glavins. (And the Mermaid) There were seven Glavin brothers living in one house west of the village of Goleen, a little over a hundred years ago.
They had no sister. One day as they were out fishing they put out their nets, and when they hauled them next day they found they had a Mermaid caught in the net.
They took her home with them. She used to knit and sew for them.
One day she called them all together and told them certain strange things.
She told them not to ever kill a seal, or not to ever eat off the same table, and not to drink from the same cup.
One evening soon afterwards, as she was sitting by the door one of the seven boys shot a seal and brought him in.
When the mermaid saw him she cried and said that he had shot her brother, and she ran out the door, and as she was going(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
