  1. For several centuries Holy Wells have been held with great respect all over Ireland. "Holy Wells", or "Blessed Wells, " as some people call them, are in a great many cases very blessed.
    Some people believe they were blessed by some Saint of Ireland.
    Of course there is not a sure account of that but the Saints used baptize people in some of them.
    People believe that lots of those wells were made by pagan people long ago. Of course they used worship the water and they made those deep holes in rocks, or whatever suited best to hold the water for them to worship.
    Those Wells were also very useful, because many a boy or girl used go and take "rounds" around the Holy Well nearest their home, and get cured from whatever disease they may have had.
    All people who used get cured would leave a button or a rag, or a handkerchief
