  1. Long ago man from the east of Bantry was out at a neighbour's house one night. His name was John Harrington. It was nearly one o'clock when he came home and according to the old people it is never right to be out late at night.
When this man came to the door of his house a black and white dog jumped up on his shoulders, and thinking it was his own dog he hit it with his stick. That night he went to bed quite healthy, but next morning he could not get up. For two or three years afterwards he could not get up.
