  1. Patrick Mc Sweeny of Mohanaclee was a great runner. At certain sports in Kealkil, he ran a mile in four minutes. William O'Driscoll of Ards ran from Dunmanway before horses to his home in Ards. Jeremiah Connolly of Bawnagereagh challenged Michael Coffey of Bantry for walking. The latter was defeated.
    Tom Driscoll of Ards was a great mower. He challenged Mr. O'Sullivan of Ardragh, and he was defeated. The winner mowed three acres of hay in one day. John O'Shea of Gallanes was a great dancer. He was taught dancing by Mr. Hanley and he often danced a horn pipe when he was eighty five years of age.
