  1. It is supposed that Cromwell's planters got a Fearann Talaimh each of the best of the land in this district. One of them named Stiaphna Ó Búnáin (probably Stephen Bannan) lived in Drumclough. He kept two very vicious dogs and one night his two dogs were killed and opened and skewered as a butcher does to a dead animal and were left hanging to an apple-tree near his house.
    Now there was in the district a family named Scully agus bhí feith na filidheachta ionta agus do cúm duine diobh amhran magaidh ag deanamh sport do'n sasanach.
    Níl ag an sean-duine le'n a bhfuilim ag caint (Pádraig O Mathghamhna Drom Clumhach) acht bhearsa amhain agus seo mar a ritheann sé:-

    Dhá dtabharfá-sa prátaí is bainne doibh
    Is iad do tabhairt beirithe ar méis doib
    D'fanfadh do ghadair ins a' bhaile
    'S ní bheadh a mhairbh ar aoinne
    Aililií Puliliú a mhairbh ar aoinne
    Aililiú Puliuiú creachaibh me
    Aililiú Puliliú Deanamh
    Aililiú Pililiú creachaibh me
    Is níl gnó agam im'bheathaidh in aon cor
