  1. The people had boots long ago but they only wore them when they were going to Mass or going to town. Long ago there was a man travelling round the country, and he never wore boots or shoes, and his name was Martin Puzzle.
    Children at present go barefooted in the summer but not all the year round. The people round our district, make no use of the water, used for washing feet except to throw it out.
    There was a man round our district and he used to make boots long ago, but no member of his family makes boots now. There are no shoemakers round our district at present so every man mends his own boots. Clogs were worn long ago but they are not worn at the present day, and they were never made in the district. Leather was never made in our district long ago.
