  1. In the townland of Dripsey there is situated a castle.
    This castle is beautifully situated overlooking the Dripsey river.
    This castle was formerly built by the Mac Carthy's in the 13th. century.
    There was a chain of castles one at Blarney one at Dripsey and one at Kilcrea all owned and built by the Mac Carthy's.
    There chief lived at Blarney while their tanists lived at Dripsey.
    When the Mac Carthys died, the castle was bought by Sir Bowen Colthurst and when he died his daughter Peggie lived there. In the "trouble" times she sold it to Mr Shaughnessy and he lives in the great house near it
