It is not right to comb ones hair on Christmas morning as that day belongs to Our Blessed Lady.
It was an old custom to go round on Hallow Eve collecting "Omulish" - Chiefly carried on in Co. Waterford - A crowd used to collect at the cross roads and they used to go from house to house collecting alms which were to be given to the poor.
The socket of a plough placed in the fire while churning served as a charm against evil-minded neighbours desirous of stealing the butter. Red cinders sprinkled with salt are said to have the same powers.Those who happen to drop in while(continues on next page)
