Nailoring.
Not so many years ago there were twenty nailors in the town, now there is none: the last died a year or two ago, and had not worked for several years.
Hobnails "crabbed heads" were principally made.
The rod-iron was imported.

Disposal.
The hobnails were sold to local shoemakers or to those in neighbouring towns. Millstreet, 13 miles north, was the last place where the hobnails used to be sold.
