  1. When St Abby (Gobnait) was building a church in Ballyvourney, she had a white pony who did all the work. A large number of men were employed in building the church for her. One of the workmen determined to steal the pony. That night he stole the pony, immediately got on its back and trotted the pony away. In the morning thinking he was miles away from the place he stole the pony found himself in the very same place. The horse had been taking him around the church the whole night. He was caught by the other workmen and his head was cut off.
