    In days gone by in the time of the Penal days, no priest had permission to be in the county.

    heard the trot of a horse behind him. He looked and saw a man on horse-back. The man said "O fly father o fly father as quickly as you can" The priest immediately secured the Blessed Sacrament, and jumped on the horse.
    The horse was taken up in the air by the power of God, and landed on a rock out-side Bantry called "Carraigh na Caointean" The place where he jumped from is called the "Priests Leap."
