  1. While still young he and his widowed mother are said to have been evicted from Dursey by John Puxley the Landlord who lived at Dunboy. They then went to live in Cúileach in the parish of Eyeries.
    When he grew up Murty joined the " Wild Geese " and later became a colonel in the French army. He fought in almost every battle-field in Europe during his time. Got a jewelled sword from Marie Theresa of Ausria for having helped her against a European Coalition to preserve his empire intact - hence " Murty an Chlaoimh (?) Óir"
    Fought also with Prince " Charlie " at Culloden. Puxley
