  1. They used have thatch, timber and sods as roofs. Very few houses were made of slates. They got thatch on the hill and they used straw also There was a bed in the kitchen in some houses. It wasn't called any name. It was placed near the fire. Old used sleep in it. There hearth was in the middle of the gable and it was made of stone and mortar. The floor was made of earth. There were no chimneys in the houses only a hole in the roof for a chimney. The old people
