    in former times. Big games of hurling were very often played in "Cuirreac Lár" in the townland of Feevagh. The local people played there. The hurleys that were used were made of wood and were generally home made ones. The ball was a solid one made of hard rubber like the rubber of a motor tyre. Pat McDonnell and Jack Reilly were famous.
    Other outdoor amusements were handball, coursing, matches and fishing.
