  1. Cure for a Sty in the Eye
    Long ago when a person got a sty in his eye a gooseberry thorn was got and pointed nine times to the left shoulder and then pointed to the eye This was supposed to cure it.
    Leicne
    Garlic was always looked on as a cure for licine or mumps. This plant grew in the garden and was like an onion.
    Toothache
    An old cure for toothache was to chew tobacco or to smoke a pipe.
    Warts
    Rain water found in a hole in a rock. This rubbed to the wart was supposed to cure it.
    Burns
    Leaves of the primrose, blue-bell, inner bark
