Cregane Manor is according to tradition the ancient residence of the Bishops of Ross
In this townland is "The Warren" formerly known as "Guaire". Tradition says that somewhere in the neighbourhood lies hidden a box of Church Vessels, and a full chime of Church Bells hidden by the Monks (or Bishop in residence) when enemy ships were sighted at Galley Head. The Bishop was slain before he could tell the hiding-place.
(Or rather was it during the Confiscation period)
