  1. There are many old stones with markings on them. There is a big stone in Mac Carthy's land in the townland of Cnockatlogue. There is some printing on it which cannot be made out. It was not known that this stone was there until about two years ago. When the owners of the land were drawig out stones on the road and when digging up this stone they noticed the printing on it. They did not remove it and it has not been interfered with since. In Lyon's land in Derrivereen there are many of these old stones with printing on them. There are six or seven stones in the middle of a field in the townland of Letter. There is printing on these stones also. According to tradition it is believed that some ancient warrior or druid was buried there.
