  1. There was a great poet in Bawnishal. His name was Florence Mahony. He made a lot of poems one of which was "the Races at Inchingearig". These are a few lines of the poem:-
    Jerry Carty's racer with light Pat Daly.
    Entered gaily for the first event.
    Was like a shadow flying o'er a meadow.
    To Inchingearig "the Forest" went.
    His rival followed upon a Charger.
    And left Johnny Jimmy a mile behind
    Who wandered greatly for a fortune lately
    And none so stately proved so unkind
