  1. In former times people did not begin to wear shoes until they were about fifteen or sixteen years or sometimes until they were getting married. Miss Annie Donegan of Cussovinna who died recently never wore shoes. The water used for washing feet at night is not thrown out because it is said that the dead people would want it.
