  1. About fifty years ago Father Kearney was the parish priest of Bantry.
    One night he was returning from a sick call. He was being driven by a man in a pony and trap. As they were passing the Abbey, the priest asked the man if he could see anybody on the road before them. "I can see nobody", replied the man. Then the priest put his stole over the man's shoulders and asked, "Now can you see anybody"?
    "I can see a man without any coat standing at the Abbey Gate", said the man.
    Then he looked up at the man's face and saw that his lips were moving as if he were talking to the priest. The priest put out his hand, made the sign of the cross, took the stole off the man's shoulders, and immediately the ghost disappeared.
    Next morning the priest gave the driver money, told him to buy a coat, and to give it to the person whom he thought
