  1. The local landlord was Sir George Caulfield. He usually resided in London, but made ocassional visits to his residence here at Donamon Castle.
    His ancestors were soldiers of Cromwell. There were many evictions during his time as landlord. Caulfield was usually unaware of such evictions taking place, as they were carried out during his absence by his agent Shiel.
    People were evicted by this agent for very trivial offences.
