  1. Local finds
    1.A bronze leaf--shaped sword was found by John Mc Neill of Cloodarragh, Ballymoe, under 16 spit of turf in his bog. It was found about 5 years ago. It was in a state of perfect preservation except the handle of wood or bone which had rotted away. It was about 3,500 years old. It is at present the property of the National Museum in Dublin and is one of their best specimens of a Bronze-age sword.
    2. A Bronze axe was found by James Galvin, Trainboy, Ballymoe, when tilling re-claimed bog. It is at present in the possession of Mr Henry Morris of the Department of Education, Dublin.
    3. A stone axe was found in a small stream at Laragh, Ballymow, by Thomas Padian of Laragh. It is also in the possession of Mr Henry Morris.
    4. A long steel sword of a later period was found by Mr. Patrick Quinn of Shancuagh, Ballintubber. He found it when uprooting a tree-stump in reclaimed bog. The tree seemed to have been burned by a fire on one side. This sword was probably lost in the bog during the
