    Once upon a time there was a man who lived in Scramouge and used to go herding cattle for a farmer.

    This man also foretold that blood would flow for a half a mile of the road from Hanly's to the turn of Ashbrook which prophesy came true in the time of the Ambush at Scramogue. He also foretold that there would no grass grow over his heart and it is said that there is such a grave in the old churchyard at Elphin.
