  1. Tales of the Penal Days.
In the penal days there was Mass said on the top of Lagan hill on a rock called Casey's rock. The congregation had to kneel in John Kane's field as the rock made a fence between the two holdings.
There is an old graveyard in Cullaghmore about a quarter of a mile from the road.
There is a grave in Larkfield called Roger Fallon's grave. Roger Fallon was coming from the battle of Ballinamuck and he was followed by two men on horse-back, they got up to him and shot him and he died. The people buried him where he fell and his grave is marked by a stone and beside the place also there is a whitethorn bush.
