    ( Continuation of Lough Bo-Derg Regatta )

winning post. All the gentry used to have marquees to shelter them at night. Each day's racing was followed by evening entertainment of music, singing, dancing and storytelling. The strains of music were carried for miles over the waters.
Fireworks were let off. These lighted up the sky, and their many colours were very attractive.
Originally the Regatta was confined to the gentry, but as time went on the ordinary country people began to patronize it, and to take part in the many events.
Gradually the upper-ten withdrew their support, and eventually the Regatta fell through.
