  1. How I spent Hallowe'en
    4th November 1938
    As the great night of Hallowe'en is over I will describe how I spent it.
    All the jobs and messages were done before the night's fun was begun.
    First of all we had supper which we enjoyed very much. Everyone was anxious to get the ring, button, and sixpence, which mother had put in the cake. There was a great commotion when father found the ring, and the race for the button and sixpence kept everybody eating. At last my sister got the button and mother the sixpence.
