  1. In times gone by and up to the present day St. Brigid's Crosses are made. They are made from rushes and sometimes straw. They are about two inches high. They are made on the 1st of February and blessed by the priest.
    They are hung on the back of doors. Another custom people had in older days was that the cake which the little candles were put on the 12th Night was taken out and put behind the couple in the barn and taken down May morning and rubbed on the cows' udders.
