  1. Local Roads
    In olden times there were no roads in the district only a few byroads. There is one of the old roads still in this locality. It starts in Clooncagh and ends in Fairymount, Kilrooskey. It was a narrow crooked road in very bad repair. In later years it was re-made and it is now fit for any mode of carriage.
    During the time of the famine the new roads were made. This gave employment to plenty of men who were sorely distressed.
    There are very few old roads at present.
