  1. The Lore of Certain Days.
    In this district there are not many days looked upon as being lucky or unlucky.
    Mondays and Thursdays were the only days of the week on which cures for the jaundice and ringworm were applied.
    It was thought lucky to change from one house to another on Friday and it was thought unlucky to change on Saturday.
    If the thirteenth of the month fell on Friday it was unlucky.
    In olden times the people did not like to go near much water on Whit Sunday or Whit Monday as this time was noticed as a time when there used to be a lot
